Cydectin withdrawal time for cattle
moxidectin. Used for roundworms, lungworms, grubs, lice, and mange — the zero-withdrawal pour-on option.
Slaughter withdrawal
21 days
injectable; the pour-on is ZERO days
| Route / formulation | Slaughter withdrawal | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Pour-on | Zero days | No slaughter withdrawal and no milk discard at label use |
| Injectable (SQ) | 21 days |
Milk & dairy: Pour-on: no milk discard — approved for lactating dairy. Injectable: not for female dairy cattle 20 months or older.
Cydectin pour-on is one of the few cattle parasiticides with no slaughter withdrawal at all — zero days, and no milk discard either, which is why it shows up on dairies and on cull cows headed to town. The injectable is a different story: 21 days, and no lactating-dairy approval.
Zero withdrawal makes the pour-on the standard answer for treating cows you may ship soon. Just remember zero is a label property of this specific formulation at the label dose — not a property of moxidectin generally.
What the label requires
- Pour-on: ZERO slaughter withdrawal, zero milk discard — the go-to for soon-to-ship cattle.
- Injectable: 21 days, beef and non-lactating dairy only.
- Zero-day status applies only at label dose and route.
Always follow the label on your bottle and your veterinarian's directions. Extra-label use — any different dose, route, or frequency — voids the withdrawal above; your vet sets the interval instead, usually via FARAD. When in doubt, hold longer. Never ship a treated animal by mistake
Log a treatment in HerdCommand with its withdrawal days and the animal carries a hold flag until the date clears — and the sale workflow warns you before a flagged animal ends up on a load. Works from the phone in your pocket, at the chute.

Common questions
Can I really slaughter cattle the same week as Cydectin pour-on?
Yes — used at the label dose along the backline, the pour-on has no pre-slaughter withdrawal and no milk discard. The injectable does not share this: it carries a 21-day hold.
