Milk & dairy: Do not use in female dairy cattle of breeding age (no milk withdrawal established).
Valbazen earns its place as the drench that also gets adult liver flukes and tapeworms, at the cost of the longest withdrawal among the white wormers: 27 days.
Its sharpest label warning is reproductive: do not give albendazole during the first 45 days of pregnancy or within 45 days of bull removal — it can cause fetal abnormalities in early gestation. On a spring-calving cow herd, that makes fall fluke treatment timing a real planning question.
What the label requires
- Slaughter withdrawal: 27 days.
- Do NOT use in the first 45 days of pregnancy or within 45 days of bull removal — early-gestation risk.
- Not for dairy females of breeding age.
- One of the few drenches with an adult liver fluke claim.
Always follow the label on your bottle and your veterinarian's directions. Extra-label use — any different dose, route, or frequency — voids the withdrawal above; your vet sets the interval instead, usually via FARAD. When in doubt, hold longer. Never ship a treated animal by mistake
Log a treatment in HerdCommand with its withdrawal days and the animal carries a hold flag until the date clears — and the sale workflow warns you before a flagged animal ends up on a load. Works from the phone in your pocket, at the chute.

Common questions
Why can’t Valbazen be used on recently bred cows?
Albendazole is teratogenic in early gestation — it can cause fetal defects during roughly the first 45 days of pregnancy. The label bars use in that window and within 45 days of pulling bulls, since you cannot know which cows are freshly bred.
